Saffron Threads — First Harvest Preorder
This is a preorder. Expected to ship by 31 March 2027.
You are reserving saffron from a crop that is still growing. Payment is taken now. We expect to harvest in late 2026, then cure, test and pack over the winter. If we cannot ship by 31 March 2027 we will contact you with a new date and you may cancel for a full refund at that point — or at any time before we ship, for any reason.
0.1 grams of whole saffron threads from our first indoor harvest in Jonesboro, Georgia. Roughly 40 to 50 threads — enough for two or three dishes, or one very good paella.
Saffron is harvested by hand, three stigmas at a time, from a flower that blooms once a year. Ours are grown on an eight-layer vertical stack under controlled climate, which is why we can do it in Georgia at all.
Why so little
This is a first harvest from a small indoor operation, and we would rather sell a little to a lot of people than a lot to a few. One hundred of these exist. When they're gone, the next opportunity is the following season.
It will be tested
Every batch goes to the University of Georgia for independent laboratory analysis, and we publish the results free on our site — no purchase needed. The soil analysis behind this crop is already published. The analysis of the threads themselves will go up before these ship.
What you'll receive
- 0.1 g whole saffron threads, sealed
- Harvest date and lab reference for your batch
- Storage instructions
Storage
Keep threads sealed, dry, and out of direct light. Stored properly they hold their character for two to three years, though colour and aroma are strongest in the first year.
Food product. Because of food safety rules, saffron cannot be returned or refunded once the seal is broken. Before shipping, you can cancel this preorder at any time for a full refund.
